Last Thursday members of our team joined government leaders and industry experts as we prepare for the opening of Western Sydney International Airport in less than 1,000 days.
Hearing from notable speakers, including The Hon Catherine King, the Transport and Local Government Minister, Paul Scully, NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Simon Hickey, Western Sydney International Airport CEO and Kiersten Fishburn the Secretary of NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
We discussed the economic opportunities for Greater Western Sydney and how governments are working together to attract investment and support residents. Some key takeaways were:
• NSW Government commits $1 billion for the 114-hectare city west of the aerotropolis precinct.
• Bradfield City, five times the size of Barangaroo, will bring 10,000 new homes, with 30% dedicated to affordable housing. The first land release in the heart of Aerotropolis, known as the ‘Superlot,’ was launched.
• The region’s population is expected to increase from 600,000 to 3.2 million by 2036.
• Over the next 30 years, the broader precinct anticipates creating 100,000 jobs.
• An additional 235,000 homes will be built in the region.
• $15 billion worth of road, rail, and transport projects are in the pipeline.
This is a huge move for the local communities of Greater Western Sydney!
