At Ausconnex we pride ourselves on our capabilities, and we know that without technological innovations, and ensuring we’re adhering to industry standards, we couldn’t deliver the successful outcomes we’re renowned for.
As an Accredited #ASP1, Ausconnex is skilled and equipped to perform network upgrades to improve resilience. Adopting best-practice philosophy, we use Australian-made, insulated cables. The electrical and mechanical characteristics of the cable are similar to bare conductors, but offer the advantages of:
• improved safety outcomes for linespeople
• reduction in the amount of tree-clearing and pruning required
• reduced risk of bushfires
• fewer construction resources due to quicker, easier erection and
• enhanced reliability.
These offcuts of #Prysmian cable may look identical, but if you look closely you will see four different cores (phases 1, 2 and 3, plus neutral), each of which comprise a cross-linked polyethylene insulated aluminium conductor. The four cables are twisted together to form a bundle.
Conductors need to be easily identifiable, particularly in poor lighting so they feature special ribbing on the outer casing. This ensures that within the lay of the bundle the three phases, and the neutral, can be identified at all times by sight and touch irrespective of the position of the neutral within the bundle.
We’re proud to work as part of an industry that sources materials #madeinaustralia and champions continuous improvement and development to ensure more reliable, safer outcomes for our customers, communities and team members alike.
