Tell us a bit about your role at Ausconnex
I started work with Ausconnex in June 2022 as an Environmental Specialist which means that anything we do that impacts the environment, comes under my responsibility. I carry out site inspections to make sure we comply with the Construction Environmental Management Plan. There can be a lot of considerations, particularly with some jobs where we need to consider flora and fauna and contaminated land management plans.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The variety of work involved in the role is very satisfying. I also really enjoy the people at Ausconnex – everyone is really friendly, easy to work with, and always willing to help.
What are some of your highlights so far?
Working with the Ausconnex people – especially Peter Cvetanovski, who is the Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Manager. He is great to work with and very supportive.
What is one of the biggest highlights of your career so far?
Achieving certification for ISO-14001 in my prior role was a big highlight. That took almost a year, working with the team to prepare the necessary documents and undergo the audit that resulted in the certification on the first round of our application. ISO-14001 is an internationally-agreed standard that ensures companies minimise their impact on the environment and improve environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.
Tell me something about yourself people might be surprised to learn.
I keep chickens and I spend way too much of my spare time making sure they are happy and comfortable. And then they reward me with fresh eggs!
Describe your time at Ausconnex so far.
I have applied myself as best I can to the new role and have integrated quite well into the culture here, which is very inclusive and supportive, with a strong team focus.
